Your voice. Your pace. A journey worth reading.
Your racer responds to tentative words immediately. The finish is confirmed when the browser finalizes them; a short pause can help. Revised guesses never award duplicate points. This counts recognized words, not pronunciation accuracy. The browser may mishear a clearly spoken word. Keep reading after a missed word; extra text lets you finish.
Downloaded HTML files may ask for microphone permission repeatedly. On the hosted HTTPS site, Chrome’s “Allow while visiting the site” setting can remember permission across visits. The first visit still needs permission; private browsing, cleared permissions, or school device policies can cause another prompt.
Try one slow, clear reading, then a faster one. Try pausing, repeating a phrase, or skipping a word. Only new matching words earn distance. The finish goal is independent of the reading length. Extra reading appears as you approach the end, so keep going after mistakes. If tracking loses your place, use “Continue with more reading” to start a fresh section without losing earned distance.
Open this file in a full desktop browser, preferably Chrome or Edge. File previews inside ChatGPT or a phone’s Files app may not allow a microphone. If local-file microphone access fails, serve the file on localhost or an HTTPS website. Recognition support varies by browser and can require internet access.
Allow microphone access only when ready. The browser’s speech provider may process your audio remotely. This game does not record or save audio or transcripts. No paid speech API is configured. Motion demo uses simulated words and cannot test recognition.
Public-domain editions are credited above. Suggested difficulty is editorial, not a formal proficiency rating. Matching ignores punctuation and capitalization, allows skips, and never deliberately gives the recognizer the passage. It can still guess from ordinary language context. Live results now drive the horse before final confirmation. The browser can still delay delivering speech results; movement cannot precede those updates.
